Welcome to the Rauris Valley — the slow travel destination in one of the most unspoiled valleys of the Alps. Nestled in the impressive mountain scenery of Hohe Tauern National Park, untouched nature, crystal-clear mountain lakes, and genuine Austrian hospitality await you. Whether hiking, family holidays, or winter experiences — the Rauris Valley combines relaxation, adventure, and tradition in a truly unique way.
The Hochalm Birds of Prey Observatory will fascinate you with impressive flight demonstrations featuring native birds of prey. Eagles, falcons, and buzzards show off their remarkable flying skills against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps. Exciting information about their way of life, hunting behavior, and nature conservation makes the visit a special experience for the whole family. And when you hike through the “Valley of Vultures” yourselves, you will also be able to spot many wild birds and marmots. Tip: bringing binoculars is well worth it!
At the Rauris Hochalm Cable Cars, the history of the valley comes to life: while gold panning, both young and old can search for sparkling treasures themselves. Equipped with a gold pan and instructions, visitors experience traditional gold panning up close and discover the centuries-old importance of gold mining in the Rauris Valley. An exciting adventure for families and nature lovers.
An excursion to Kolm Saigurn in Hohe Tauern National Park is ideal, for example — with impressive waterfalls, clear mountain air, and relaxed hikes along streams and meadows. Around the Rauris UrQuell spring or Hochalm mountain lake, you can also enjoy wonderful walks and take breaks by the water along the way, which is perfect for your dogs, especially in summer.
The Rauris Hochalm Cable Cars also take dogs up the mountain, so you can reach beautiful panoramic trails together without too much effort. The only important thing is to keep your dog on a lead in alpine pasture areas, as you will often encounter cows and marmots there.
At reception, you will receive our hut guide with plenty of tips for the Rauris Valley. Whether active days in the Rauris Valley ski area, a refreshing break at the Sonnblick outdoor pool, a shopping stroll along Markstraße, a regional delicacy in one of the many alpine huts, or shared excursions into nature — in Rauris, there is something for everyone.
The Rauris Valley offers ideal conditions for a relaxed winter holiday with your dog. Snow-covered hiking trails and untouched natural landscapes make the valley a special experience for humans and dogs alike. Shared walks through the glittering winter scenery provide relaxation and unforgettable moments in the heart of the Alps.
Wintertime means fun in the snow! On the varied toboggan runs in the Rauris Valley, you can enjoy fast-paced rides through a dreamlike winter landscape. You can rent sledges directly from us — simple and convenient for your perfect winter day.
